AUSTRALIAN VISITOR VISA
If you wish to visit Australia you must apply for an Australian visitor visa which will allow you a temporary stay in Australia for up to three, six or twelve months for purposes such as tourism or family visiting. In addition, visas can be obtained for visiting Australia for the following special purposes:
- Working Holiday
- Event Organizing/Participation
CANADIAN VISITOR VISA
If you wish to visit Canada, you must apply for a Canadian visitor visa which will allow you a temporary stay in Canada usually for up to six months (as a tourist) but for up to ten months for a parent or grandparent of a Canadian citizen.
NEW ZEALAND VISITOR VISA
If you wish to visit New Zealand, you must apply for a New Zealand visitor visa which will allow you to stay in New Zealand for up to nine months. In order to obtain a New Zealand Visitor Visa you must;
- be in good health
- be of good character
- have a valid passport
- show a genuine and approved purpose for the trip
- show intent to return to the home country
- show proof of funds for the duration of the trip and to return to the home country
If you do not fulfill the above requirements you might be eligible for a limited visa. A limited visa is a special type of visit visa for those who may not otherwise qualify for a visit visa. These are granted for a special purpose such as a family wedding or reunion.
UK VISITOR VISA
Visitors to the UK (who are not citizens or holding a valid visa to stay there) can usually stay in the UK for up to six months.
The business visitor category is for people who want to do business in the UK for a short time. This includes academic visitors, visiting professors, overseas news media representatives and film crews on location.
A family visitor may visit a family member in the UK such as a spouse, children, parents, grandparents etc.
This visa is for visiting the UK for general purposes, including for a holiday or to visit friends or relatives. Successful applicants can stay in the UK for up to six months or 12 months in the case of academic visitors.
USA VISITOR VISA
If you wish to visit the United States of America, you may apply for either a B-1 Visa for a business visit or a B-2 Visa for pleasure. General conditions of these visas require that the applicant has permanent residence in the home country and has no intention of staying illegally in the US. The applicant must prove he/she is entering the U.S. for a temporary period, and that will engage in activity relating to business or pleasure, not employment.
FRANCE VISITOR VISA
If you wish to visit France, you may apply for a France – Schengen Visa. The Embassy of France located in Sri Lanka process these visa applications for people residing in Sri Lanka and in the Maldives.
